BDA Seeking Spring Intern Candidates - New York

Internship with Business for Diplomatic Action
Spring 2010

Background

Business for Diplomatic Action is a private-sector led initiative aimed at mobilizing the US business community for public diplomacy efforts. An internship with BDA provides a unique and dynamic experience unlike any other. Interns with BDA are challenged on a daily basis to work independently on a variety of BDA efforts and initiatives as well as interact and work directly with a diverse board of senior global executives.

Time Commitment -- Spring Term (Jan-May 2010) Flexible with start & ends dates per student needs; 40 hours per week

Openings: 2 in New York (which will share the listed duties); Open to international students

This is an unpaid internship

Location - DDB Worldwide Headquarters, 437 Madison Avenue, New York, 11th Floor

Requirements - Applicants must be a Senior if applying from the undergraduate level, recent graduate or currently pursuing a graduate degree; areas of study that are applicable: business, international relations, communication, public policy and public affairs, marketing and advertising, foreign affairs and political science.

Applicant Deadline - December 4th, 2009 - Selections will be made by December 20th.

Duties (to include but are not limited to)


- Work directly with DDB Chairman Emeritus Keith Reinhard, President of BDA, Tom Miller, VP, and their immediate staff, as well as the BDA Executive Director and Board membership on developing and managing internal directives, events, and outreach.

- Respond, cull, and organize BDA inquiries and offers of support

- Research current public diplomacy activities, press, and events for use in BDA presentations and news circulations; Research on foreign affairs and the implications for public diplomacy activities globally

- Aid in the development of BDA presentations, press kits, talking points, PR and public affairs strategy;

- Draft op-eds, speeches, talking points, etc. for events and BDA members (opportunity for publishing own work extremely high)
