Generally it has been positive.
If there's anything negative then it is because of political
reasons: 1. Occupation of Iraq 2. Political bias to Pakistan
3. Playing role as a super cop to the world 4. Vast
consumption of energy and natural resources 5. Lack of
employment opportunities and flat economic growth |
| 11 |
Foreign policy, George Bush's
lack of sensitivity and understanding of other cultures, US
culture is different from other cultures. No one likes a
superpower. |
| 12 |
Jealousy, desire for the US to
become weaker, desire for wealth redistribution |
| 13 |
Abroad... it is foreign policy
decisions. Our decisions to go into Iraq, etc. Domestically,
it is domestic policy issues... a government that is over
spending, not engaged in the world, white male-dominated and
corrupt. |

Poor political maneuvering in
Washington mostly. |

The feeling that the US thinks
it rules the world. Also, when travelling, Americans often
garner a reputation for being loud and obnoxious. |

people. |

Hubris & Hypocrisy -
Claiming to be the leader of democracy, but ignoring
democratic institutions such as the UN. All countries are

1) The US is a big bully and
does not show any concern for anyone's well-being, includind
the well-being of US citizens. 2) The hightened levels of US
Christian fanaticism/evangelism threaten the peace of the rest
of the planet. An estabslished history and reputation based on
the above two points lead to negative feelings about the US. A
sustained shift from traditional American benevolence towards
barbarism and feudalism. |

| 83 |
Demagoguery and cluelessness: -
We are "educating" Iraqis on the importance of democracy, but
forget that we installed their dictator and put him on CIA
payroll; we ousted Allende from Chile (democratically elected)
and installed Pinochet; we lecture China on human rights, but
have sponsored death squads in Latin America to put down
"insurgents"; we unconditionally back Israel even as they
bulldoze Palestinian homes in the West Bank against UN
resolutions... etc. And the latest - we favor torturing
suspected terrorists to get them to confess. I hate this
stuff. |
